Amsonia is a perennial that will reach 3 feet tall by June when it is covered with baby blue flowers. Its leaves are like willow leaves, making a fine textured back drop for other plants in your garden. It provides shade on its north side to protect the yellow leafed heuchera (coral bell) which would scorch in hot sun. Both of these plants are available at Bellwether Gardens.

Nestled in the hills of beautiful Leelanau County is the bucolic Bellwether Gardens, a unique ‘Garden Nursery’ having a diverse selection of winter hardy plants, from dwarf conifers and shrubs, to perennials and small trees.
Stroll through the fragrant, lavender-lined path leading up to the rare weeping larch canopy to the shade loving plants sheltered in a natural setting. Truly an inspiration for all who love to garden.
